Fresno State prof honored as one of Top 10 Professional Women

Dr. Paulette Fleming, a professor of art and design at California State University, Fresno, has been selected as one of the Marjaree Mason Center’s Top Ten Professional Women of 2010.

The Marjaree Mason Center, a Fresno-based nonprofit dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and homelessness, annually honors women who give back to the community while maintaining successful careers.

Candidates are nominated by organizations and individuals, and the final 10 are selected by community judges based on their accomplishments and contributions.

Fleming joined the Fresno State faculty in 1988 and has been recognized for her many areas of expertise, including four universitywide Faculty Development Grant Awards.

In 2008, she was honored as California Visual Art Educator of the Year by the National Art Education Association.

Fleming and the other nine honorees will be presented during a luncheon Oct. 21 sponsored by the Marjaree Mason Center as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A local business will also be recognized for its support to women in their careers and personal achievements.
